Our Story

Kashmiri pashmina heritage craftsmanship
“Basita Mir is a bridge spanning the quiet Himalayas and the legendary ateliers of Kashmir.”

Founded in London and rooted in Kashmir, our brand celebrates one of the world's most treasured textile traditions. As a British-Kashmiri-founded brand, we work directly with skilled local artisans in Kashmir, who craft every piece using techniques passed down through generations.

For centuries, authentic Kashmiri Pashmina has been admired by royalty and collectors around the world. During the Victorian era, Queen Victoria's appreciation for Kashmir shawls helped popularise their exceptional craftsmanship in Britain, cementing their place as a symbol of timeless luxury.

Every piece we create honours this remarkable heritage, bringing the artistry of Kashmir to a new generation.

Our mission is to preserve the authenticity of true Kashmiri pashmina. In a market where blended and synthetic fabrics are often sold as pashmina, we are committed to protecting the heritage and craftsmanship behind this extraordinary fibre. Every piece is crafted in Kashmir by local artisans using 100% pure pashmina and techniques that have endured for centuries.

By supporting artisan communities and championing conscious craftsmanship, we create timeless pieces that honour the people, culture, and legacy of Kashmir.
